What the cloud security finder cannot tell you: five checks to run yourself
Why a finder is not a verdict
Everything on this site comes from public vendor pages read in September 2026 and updated on 3 November 2026. That is enough to rule things out (a cloud not named, an agent you cannot install, an authorization you need and the vendor does not state) and to narrow a shortlist. It is not enough to say which product will work best for you, which is why this site has no scores.
1. Coverage on your own accounts
Connect the same set of accounts to each shortlisted product and compare inventories. Do they find the same number of resources? Which ones does each miss? Vendors describe agentless approaches differently: Orca reads workload block storage out of band, Wiz connects by cloud API. Your accounts are the only fair test of what each finds.
2. Signal versus noise
Export each product's top 20 findings after a week. For each, ask: is it real, is it reachable, would we fix it this month? Vendor figures such as Upwind's stated 93% noise reduction are the vendor's own and measured on other estates; your ratio is what matters.
3. Routing to owners
Pick five findings and follow them. Does each reach the team that owns the resource, through the tools they use? Can a finding become a pull request or a ticket with the right owner? A product that finds well but routes badly leaves the security team as the fixer of everything.
4. The cost of a sensor
If you will run a sensor, put it on your busiest nodes for a week. Measure CPU and memory, note what it took to deploy and upgrade, and test whether blocking works the way the vendor describes. Do this before signing, not after.
5. What the contract includes
Most vendors on this site quote through sales. Ask which of the six categories are in the quote, which are add-ons, what the pricing unit is, and what happens when the estate grows. Compare the quote with the category map on the vendor's profile here: if a category you need sits in a tier or an add-on, the vendor's note says so.
How the finder helps with these
Its check list doubles as a test plan. Every check marked Not in our sources is a question for the vendor. Every check marked Partly is a place to test. And the categories it picks tell you which part of a platform to test first.
